nEW gt SAXOPHONE Testimonials

Grandpa Doug

At the beginning of school last year, Grandpa Doug’s granddaughter Viviana announced that she would begin lessons on the alto saxophone and be playing in the school band. Grandpa Doug, being a jazz pianist and teacher, was thrilled by this news. However, his excitement got somewhat subdued when he saw the condition of the saxophone that the school had assigned to Viviana.

No, no way was Grandpa Doug’s granddaughter going to play on what he considered to be a beat up, dented old saxophone. Grandpa Doug contacted Charley at Old Dog New Saxophones and we selected the GT professional alto brass in gold lacquer for Viviana.

Here’s Viviana playing her new professional alto!

Mark in Boulder Colorado about the Red Bronze Soprano:

"I was looking for a soprano with a bit more character than my Series III, mostly for jazz playing, when I found the GT red bronze. This soprano has a lively, colorful, warm sound with lots of personality. It offers brilliance without sounding harsh or nasal, with a singing resonance throughout. I’m able to access a rich subtone in the lower register and (almost) flawless intonation well into the altissimo range. I like this horn!"

Kindra in Washington about the Red Bronze in Black Nickel Plate Trumpet:

“Immediately out of the case, this Trumpet exceeded my expectations. I have been a musician for over 30 years and know quality. The tone produced is subtle and balanced, and very little tuning was needed upon first play. I don’t like “bright” sounding instruments and this horn is the perfect match for me. Lastly, I must say how beautiful this horn is! It’s just an absolute masterpiece of an instrument that deserves to be played. I am very pleased overall. Thank you!”

Ellyn in Oregon about the Titanium Soprano:

So far I’m loving the tone and control that it has, and the intonation seems consistent across the horn.  I also really like the look of it, and, I'm especially noticing its responsiveness in the softer dynamic levels, which has always been a battle on my old soprano.
