DID YOU KNOW: A saxophone is assembled with about 400 component parts! The level of precision and attention to detail must be consistent to generate high-quality sound and performance.

Hi, my name is Charley and I am that “Old Dog” pictured playing the sax. I have been playing the saxophone since the age of 10 and professionally for the last 30 years.

Over the years I have had the distinct pleasure and honor of performing at venues throughout New York - including Birdland - with jazz greats such as Ted Brown, Connie Crothers, Virg Dzurinko, Kazzrie Jaxen, Roger Mancuso and Ratzo Harris.

In 2015, I took my love for saxophones to a different level by founding the musical instrument company Old Dog New Saxophones.

My company is passionate about sourcing and selling only the finest quality saxophones available - saxophones that match our personal criteria for sound, craftsmanship, and reliability. We know that these criteria are vital to a musician’s ability to perform at the highest level - whether you’re a young student ready to “graduate” from your school-issued instrument or a seasoned professional looking for a replacement or upgrade.

Our GTSax model saxophones are manufactured by the Gu Tai Company of Taiwan.  This company is an established saxophone manufacturer for nearly 30 years and is well-known for its excellent sound quality and craftsmanship.

The saxophone body is hand-hammered by skilled craftsmen over 500 times in order to produce an excellent timbre.

Expert-level engineers carefully adjust, inspect, and test every saxophone we sell to ensure that customers receive the finest instruments available.
